Survivor Poem: Decisions of Assault

By: Lavonya Leach

Love… some say it’s hard to find.
But when love uses a fist… you
Soon find out that love was not so divine.
As I lay on a pillow comfy in my bed
I suddenly felt that fist as my pillow when he went upside my head.
Life for me is not the same.
I feel as if I have earned a new name.
Ms. Weak link I wear it with pride.
Not only has he stole my pride but my will to bare to be alive.
When I go to bed at night
I have so many frights
I’m constantly looking over my shoulder.
The warmer I get, the world gets even colder.
I can no longer ask why because it’s all my fault the decisions I made will forever be known as Decisions Of Assault.
