Survivor Poem: Sadism of Rape

Choke away my breath
My innocence
Soul

Mock my tears of fear
your echoing laughter flooding my ears

Singsong threats of torture
Lullaby your melodies of death
Making promises of malicious play
Relief comes from my consciousness slipping away

Caged my body with ropes
My mind with your games
Succumbing to your rituals of sadism
My soul commits suicide
As you choke away
My last…..

jessicamichelle, thank you for sharing this with the community here. This piece of poetry catches the attention and speaks to some very difficult experiences of violence. You write, “Caged my body with ropes/My mind with your games”. Manipulation and physical control are both extremely difficult tactics to get away from in an abuse situation.
